Static Blade
A short isometric metroidvania with melee combat and strange characters. Gamepad highly recommended.
If you run into performance issues in the browser, please tell me and then consider trying the downloadable build.
Controls (explained in-game)
(XBOX/PS4 Controller, or WASD + JKL, or Arrow keys + QWE)
There's an issue with some keyboards where you can't press 3 keys at once, so if you're using the keyboard and running into this issue, consider using a gamepad or remapping the controls in the pause menu.

If you get softlocked, you can go to the pause menu and reset the current room, or return to the title (progress is saved unless you refresh the page, so no progress should be lost).
Hint if you get lost: The compass directions mentioned by NPCs are relative to your screen, so north is literally "towards the top of your screen". Northwest is moving to the top-left corner of your screen, etc.
I made everything in this game for the Metroidvania Month 32 jam. Everything in the game was created entirely by me during the jam period except for the following:
- The sound effects were made by me, but re-used from my past games
- The engine is re-used from my Boss Rush Jam 2024 entry, where I wrote a 3D engine around Love 2D.
- The font in the game is monogram by datagoblin
- The font in the logo is the default Aseprite font

There's a spot with no boundary in the room where you shoot a switch for the first time after you get the gun, right beside the switch near a black circle, i got out of bounds there and softlocked.
Yeah sorry that’s a known issue. If you return to the title screen when that happens and re enter the game, it should work again. Sorry about that!
Update: The bug is fixed! No more softlocks (in theory)!
this rocks; everything about it is cool. Idk how to avoid taking damage when you are forced to dash but maybe you are just meant to never have a full meter? so you can kind of play around that
